Welcome to the 2021 Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry Showcase!

The Spring 2021 Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry Showcase is right around the corner. All undergraduate students are invited to share their undergraduate research and creative projects with the larger campus community in a virtual format.

Virtual Showcase

The virtual showcase will take place on Zoom from
9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

Students have until Friday, April 16, 2021 to register to participate in one of three categories including: narrated poster, oral presentation or 3 minute research presentation competition. All undergraduates who completed research projects or creative work in Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 in each area.

This showcase is one of the largest “show-and-tell” events on campus where students from all disciplines will present their research and creative works. The virtual Showcase will highlight interesting and engaging undergraduate research and creative endeavors. Nearly a thousand students and faculty are expected to attend and support one another.

From Toni Morrison to robot learning and beyond, students topics will be far and wide truly showcasing their curiosity for research and discovery. The mission of this event will be to give all UTSA undergraduates the opportunity to share their work with the larger campus community. The Showcase will be a great introduction to undergraduate research at UTSA and all faculty, staff and students are encouraged to join throughout the day.

There will be 3 events for students to participate. These include:

  1. Poster Session, where students will upload their conference style poster with narration. There will also be an opportunity for feedback and judging.
  2. 10-minute PowerPoint Presentation option, where students will have 10 minutes to share their work. This will be followed by 5 minutes of Q&A.
  3. Thesis competition, where students will have 3 minutes and 1 slide to inform the audience about their project. Each area will be judged and feedback and prizes will be awarded.

The Council on Undergraduate Research has announced that the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) will be held virtually April 12-14, 2021, and twelve UTSA undergraduate students will be participating in the virtual conference.
